Eco-Regions

The EPA defines ecoregions as “Areas where ecosystems (and the type, quality, and quantity of environmental resources) are generally similar.” When the map is clicked it will display eco-region information on the side bar and open a PDF which describes each eco-region.

This page provides information for all of new jersey’s level 3 and level 4 ecoregions. Level 3 ecoregions provide a board overview of geographical areas of New Jersey. Level 4 ecoregions are a finer scale representation of these geographic areas.

The PDF provides details about the geology and ecology of each region.
